Privacy Policy

DocuSnap was engineered with a foundational zero-trust privacy architecture: your sensitive receipts, contracts, tax files, and IDs are processed strictly on your device.

Application: DocuSnap: Photo to PDF Scanner • Package: com.mssdigital.docusnap • Last Updated: November 2026

Key Privacy Summary at a Glance

1. Information We Do NOT Collect

Unlike traditional scanning utilities that transfer your camera captures to remote servers for optical character processing or cloud storage, DocuSnap executes all processing locally on your mobile phone's CPU and GPU using Google ML Kit on-device models.

We do NOT collect, view, transmit, store, or sell:

  • Your captured photos, scanned documents, receipts, contracts, or identification cards.
  • The text or optical character recognition content of your documents.
  • Generated PDF file outputs or file metadata.
  • Personal identifiers such as your real name, email address, phone number, or home address.
  • Account credentials or biometric authentication tokens.

2. Device Permissions & Usage Rationale

In strict compliance with Google Play's Developer Policy regarding minimal permission requests, DocuSnap requests only the permissions strictly essential to deliver document scanning:

android.permission.CAMERA Camera Access

Used solely in real-time within the app interface to capture paper documents, receipts, books, or ID cards. Video frames are analyzed solely in active volatile memory and never recorded or transmitted remotely.

READ_MEDIA_IMAGES / READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE Photo Gallery Import

Requested only when you deliberately choose the "Import from Gallery" feature to select specific images from your camera roll for batch PDF creation. DocuSnap never accesses unselected photos.

Scoped Storage (Android 10+) Saving Exported PDFs

Exported PDF documents are saved either in the standard Android Documents or Downloads directory or the app-specific private directory under your complete operating system control.

3. Third-Party SDK Disclosures & Diagnostics

To sustain development and support free high-quality features, the app integrates industry-standard Google SDKs. These SDKs collect non-sensitive diagnostic and advertising telemetry in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy:

A. Google AdMob (Advertising)

AdMob may collect anonymized device identifiers (such as Google Advertising ID), coarse location / IP address, device specifications, and ad interaction metrics to deliver contextually relevant or non-personalized advertisements. Users may reset or delete their Advertising ID in Android Settings > Privacy > Ads.

B. Google Play In-App Billing

Optional premium upgrades (e.g., removing ads) are processed securely through Google Play In-App Billing. All payment processing, credit card storage, and banking transactions are managed exclusively by Google LLC. DocuSnap never accesses or stores your financial instruments.

C. Google ML Kit (On-Device Machine Learning)

DocuSnap utilizes Google ML Kit's on-device vision APIs for document edge detection and perspective correction. The inference engine runs entirely locally on your smartphone processor without network traffic.

4. Document Security & Storage Architecture

All document processing pipelines—including edge detection, cropping, perspective straightening, B&W enhancement filtering, and multi-page PDF compilation—take place in temporary local cache memory.

When you delete a scan or clear the app data, the cached files are permanently erased by the Android operating system. Because we operate zero remote servers, it is technically impossible for us to recover, view, or retain your scanned files.

5. GDPR, CCPA & Global User Rights

Under regulations including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

  • Right of Access & Portability: Since we store zero personal data or user accounts, all your data exists solely on your physical device.
  • Right to Deletion: You can completely eliminate all app data at any time by uninstalling DocuSnap or clearing the app storage in your Android App Info settings.
  • Right to Opt-Out: You can opt out of personalized advertisements via your Android device's Google Settings.

6. Children's Privacy

DocuSnap is a general audience productivity utility and is not knowingly directed at children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area). We do not solicit or intentionally gather personal identifiable information from minors.
